Do what you say you are going to do.
You want to stand out? Just deliver. Period. Do what you say you are going to do.
It’s to a point now where you are overdelivering by simply doing what you said you were going to do.
Customer Service and Responsiveness from companies isn’t getting any better. Studies show average hold times are increasing, even as high as 23 minutes for a call to the IRS.
It’s harder to talk to actual people, as automation continues to increase.
And as people get busier, it’s become more difficult for people to take care of more things.
How many times in a given day does someone tell you they are going to do something and they don’t? They tell you that they will email you by the end of the day. Or that they will call you at a certain time. The list goes on and on.
It’s so common that it’s expected.
It’s the quick and the responsive that win.
Recently, I called ten landscapers to quote a job at my house. Seven of the landscapers never called me back. Three showed up to give me a a quote. And only one landscaper actually sent me the quote. He sent it to me that night and got the job.
He delivered. Where nine out of ten didn’t.
Think about how many times in your day you tell someone you are going to do something. How often do you deliver exactly what you said you were going to do.
It’s easy to think it doesn’t matter if you miss certain things. But every time you do miss something, you make it acceptable to miss more.
Don’t overpromise. But when you do promise, make it happen.
It’s your word and your ability to deliver that determines your success.
